A Blue John ring featuring a large oval Blue John stone set in hallmarked sterling sliver. Made in our Sheffield studio by jewellery designer Andrew Thomson. The stone size is 32mm by 25mm and this ring is available for most finger sizes.

Blue John is a semi-precious mineral, a form of fluorite found only in the UK. Its name is thought to be derived from the French 'bleu jeune' (blue yellow) which describes its unique colouring. Blue John became popular in the 18th and 19th Centuries which it was made into ornaments including vases, clocks and even table tops.
Nowadays Blue John is becoming increasingly scarce and only smaller deposits are found which are suitable for jewellery. We are fortunate to be able to source our Blue John directly from the mines. The rough stone is crafted by Andrew to reveal the wonderful colours and patterns of this beautiful stone.
