A lovely Blue John pendant in hallmarked sterling silver with a solid silver back. Made by designer Andrew Thomson in our Sheffield studio, this pendant features a 20mm Blue John stone which has been selected and cut especially for this beautiful reuleaux triangle style design.
Blue John (also known as Derbyshire Spar) is a semi-precious mineral, a form of fluorite with bands of a purple-blue or yellowish colour. In the UK it is found only at Blue John Cavern and Treak Cliff Cavern at Castleton in Derbyshire. During the 19th century, it was mined for its ornamental value, and mining continues on a small scale.
Our stones are 100% natural and therefore may differ slightly in pattern and colour from those in the photos. The pearl necklace in the photo is not included but a chain may be purchased separately.
